  • On the basis of generalized indicators for assessing the quality of service maintenance of equipment, criteria for assessment of service maintenance have been developed. A questionnaire of paired comparisons was compiled and a survey of three groups of experts was implemented: scientific personnel, service staff, users of road-building equipment. Conclusions for each group of experts interviewed and general conclusions on the survey were drawn.

  • Identification of causes and determination of ways to eliminate a difference between the test results and the actual indicators of the load-bearing capacity of rubber-fabric tapes with a semi-overlapping oblique joint in the process of their repair or manufacture are discussed. The influence of the main geometric parameters of test samples for determining the load-bearing capacity on the stress state in the stress concentration zones has been studied. Based on the ANSYS package, a parametric finite-element model of the test sample was developed, which takes into account all the features of its geometry and allows you to vary the values of the main geometric parameters of the model.

  • Destruction of a collector of an electric machine during dynamic balancing can lead to extreme emergencies. Structural strength of protective elements of the dynamic forming plant must be confirmed by calculations. The main reasons resulting in the damaging of the collector using the finite-element method are discussed. The use of this method makes possible to avoid industrial emergencies and to solve the problem of obtaining a reliable shell for an electric machine. Information on the reasons for the damaging of the protective case of the plant, leading to emergencies, is given. It has been found that the use of a welded shell as an element of a rotating electric machine results in its damaging due to the fact that the welded seam does not withstand the dynamic load.

  • Excessive heat may be a cause of a battery failure. Thermal runaway is a common failure mode that can occur in all types of electrochemical batteries. This can be especially dangerous for lithium-ion cells due to their high energy density and flammability. So, it is necessary to strictly control the temperature of the battery to avoid thermal runaway and improve the reliability and durability of the battery. The temperature control only by taking into account the average battery temperature can damage the entire battery pack. The existing systems for monitoring the temperature of cells in a storage battery have been examined.

  • The microstructure and the properties of restorative coatings made by high-speed electric arc surfacing are discussed. The resulting coatings have a uniform distribution of alloying components throughout thickness, providing the uniform structure and the properties of the coatings.

  • The design of a pressure filtering device for drinking water purification, characterized by ease of manufacture, is proposed. Filters for purification of fresh water from pollution, based on coal or membranes are proposed. Permeability of the filtering device is described mathematically on the basis of Darcy's law. The obtained mathematical dependences make possible to determine the advance time of the front of the treated water and filter length under the influence of hydrostatic pressure.

  • The extensive implementation of new polymer and composite materials as well as a set of technological processes, connected with the cold pipe bending, face difficulties of engineering calculations including nonlinear deformation curves in the area of operating loads. The derivation of equations for determination of real elastic responses of the bending of materials with a nonlinear deformation curve, based on the analysis of the dependence of movement of the point of force application on its value in case of the cantilevered or three-point bending of beams, is given. The equations can be used for calculations of the elastoplastic bending of metal elements of constructions and the bending of polymer and composite material constructions.

  • Based on experimental data obtained in typical natural production conditions of the Irkutsk district during logging operations by the system of machines «feller-buncher—skidder–processor, it is proposed to improve timber flows from felling trees to stacking logs in a pile with this timber harvesting technology and the mechanisms used. The system analysis of the technological efficiency of the complex «feller-buncher—skidder—processor» is based on a solution of the following problem: from the standpoint of the system-dynamic approach, the most informative criteria of dynamic connectivity and interdependence of complexes of machines, mechanisms and equipment as deeply integrated space-time structures, were formulated. The technological schemes reflecting the integrated connectivity of the process of roundwood production by the considered complex are presented. According to the system approach, in subsystems there is an operational storage of items produced by the previous operations of the machines before the start of the subsequent operations of the machines of the complex. The technological efficiency of this complex is indicated in the system connectivity of roundwood production cycle operations as a multistage structure. On the basis of the principles of system-dynamic optimization of the integrated logging process as a whole, the generalization of the principle of harmonization to multi-stage managed clusters has been formulated as a necessary condition for sustainable development.
